Jake stumbled through the undergrowth, his chest pounding. The deafening scream still echoed in his ears, sending shivers down his spine. He couldn't believe he was chasing after Ryan, who seemed to have lost all sense of reason in his pursuit of the mysterious voices.
Branches slapped against his face, leaving red marks in their wake. Sweat poured down his forehead, mingling with the dirt and grime that covered his skin. Fear and adrenaline coursed through his veins, propelling him forward. He had to catch up to Ryan before something terrible happened. Well...to himself.
Finally, Jake emerged into a small clearing, his breath coming in ragged gasps. He scanned the area, searching for any sign of Ryan. But the only thing he saw was the abandoned camera lying on the ground, its lens cracked and useless.
"Ryan!" Jake called out, his voice echoing through the jungle. There was no response, only silence. Panic surged within him, and he felt a cold knot forming in the pit of his stomach. He was alone, surrounded by the unyielding darkness of the jungle.
Gathering his courage, Jake picked up the camera and switched it on. To his surprise, the screen flickered to life, revealing the last footage recorded by Ryan. It showed a brief glimpse of movement, something fleeting and indistinct. Jake's heart skipped a beat as he realized it was a figure, tall and shadowy, disappearing into the thick foliage.
Determined not to lose hope, Jake pressed on, following the direction the figure had taken. Every step was laced with uncertainty, but he had come too far to turn back now. The jungle seemed to close in around him, its ancient secrets whispering in the wind.
Minutes passed, and fear threatened to consume him. But just as his strength waned, Jake stumbled upon a hidden clearing bathed in moonlight. In the center of the clearing stood Ryan, his eyes searching for something it shouldn't have. Hanging a smirk of excitement that Jake could never comprehend unless call it madness.
As Jake approached, Ryan's voice whispered in disappointment."Tch...missed it"
Jake now knows one thing, that he could never understand people like him. People who would run in to the unknown instead of stumbling back. What kind of blood was running through their veins?. The one made with curiosity and stupidity?
"I'll come back tomorrow" Ryan grabbed the camera from Jake's hand and walked away.
Jake was now sure that it was definitely missed with stupidity.
To be continued...
